Watches with the were called Custom Curved and models were called Curvametric in Gruen advertising, although the dials are all marked simply Curvex and Precision. The main difference between the two models is that the Curvex Lord has a decorative pattern of parallel lines on its case. This dial has large gold hour numbers and s When a Gruen Curvex is not Interesting Sliding the button on the side causes the case to spring open, revealing the diamond-shaped watch inside.

Perhaps the Curvex line is small by today's standards and has less appeal because of the size. I've found the long pre-war models to be appealing, but the later styles look nice too. Because young people starting their adult lives could use a good watch, but could seldom afford one, a watch was the traditional gift from parents to children at graduation.
The shape of movement, dial and case is designed to present a very guren edge when viewed at an angle, and to disguise the fact that the watch is thicker in the center. Gruen made very few driver's models; the line was apparently not commercially successful. The plastic distorts the dial markings in both.
Band is in very good condition too! Noticed the dial has wear in areas. This one has a diamond dial!
This watch is in non-running condition, with a broken balance staff. The dial is a little faded. Since these have no buckle, they cirvex espeically convenient to wear with this type of watch.
The dial appears to be a recent refinish of excellent quality. I just won my first vintage eBay auction with a Gruen Curvex.

Love the old curvex watches! The case is made of 14 K Rose Gold. Gruen did good quality work as shown here. Hamilton and other companies quickly brought out driver's models of their own.
