However you will find that this product simplifies and gets you started on a very satisfying and worthwhile learning experience. That said, Ion's products offer a great value and borrow heavily from Numark's reliable, high-end designs. I do really wish the tone arm would return to it's rest at the end of the record rather than just remain on the turning album forever.
While I do know my way around a computer, I wouldn't consider myself a technical whiz by any stretch of the imagination. We've changed, we promise. Once you have your albums converted, you can sort them, make custom playlists, and easily take them with you turntqble an iPod or play them directly from your computer.
However, there is no "78" setting for those of you who have a very old collection. I'm quite happy with the purchase and have enlarged my technical experience greatly as a result of both the product and the support associated with it. My only caveat to potential buyers would be for anyone using this on Windows Vista. Here, initially, only 1 channel was being recorded and duplicated to the 2nd channel. While this was a plus for me when searching for the right turntable, it wasn't the first thing I considered, as almost ttusg of my vinyl is already on my hard drive or in my iPod. The TTUSB 10 sports a sleek design and includes easy-to-use audio recording software for your turnrable plus a dust cover and a tone lift arm. But for any serious vinyl archiver, I would look into other solutions than this model.
Audacity lets you clean all of that up, but I chose not to. It is a little larger than I expected, but I got over that. That said, I am still recording my vinyl rather than buying, but at a much, much slower pace than expected.
